How Bag Guard works

Bag Guard turns an iPhone into an anti-theft alarm. Arm with one tap, put the phone in your bag, and when someone moves it the phone plays a loud siren. Guarding runs inside iOS Guided Access, so nobody can close the app or turn the phone down.

Common questions

Apple Pay pops up after 3 clicks. Guided Access is not on yet, or the clicks were too slow. Go back to the app: it shows what to switch on in Settings (once).

The siren is quiet. Turn the volume all the way up before starting the session. Inside the session the volume buttons are off on purpose.

How do I stop the alarm? Triple-click the lock button, confirm with the Guided Access passcode, Face ID or Touch ID and choose "End". The alarm stops by itself.

The siren plays in my headphones or helmet. Another device has taken the sound: headphones, an intercom or a car. The app does not arm until the sound is back on the phone; on the "Speaker first" screen tap "Switch to iPhone" or disconnect that device.

I forgot the Guided Access passcode and the siren is playing. If Face ID or Touch ID is on in the Guided Access settings, that is enough. Without it the only way out is a forced restart: quickly volume up, quickly volume down, then hold the side button until the Apple logo appears. Set a new passcode in Settings, Accessibility, Guided Access, Passcode Settings.

The alarm went off on a bus. The sensor cannot tell the rocking of a vehicle from a thief's hand. Better not to arm in vehicles.

Will I get an Apple Watch notification? No. iOS does not allow that for an app guarding in the foreground.

Emergency calls. During a Guided Access session the iPhone cannot make emergency calls or use Crash Detection. End the session before you might need them.
